Fun, structured coaching designed to build real skills and a genuine love of the game. Delivered by PGA professionals who know how to get the best out of young golfers.
Golf is a sport for life, and the earlier you start, the further you go
Young golfers build motor patterns quickly. A junior who learns to grip and swing correctly from day one has a huge advantage over adults who spend years unlearning bad habits. Starting right means progressing faster.
Golf teaches kids to think strategically, manage frustration, and stay calm under pressure. These mental skills transfer into school, sport, and life. It's one of the most character-building games there is.
Unlike contact sports, golf can be played from age 6 to 96. A junior who falls in love with the game today has a hobby, a social network, and a competitive outlet for the rest of their life.
We coach at Sunderland Golf Centre, with 42 covered driving range bays right on site. Juniors get proper coaching in a real golf environment, not just hitting into a net. Real feedback, real progress from the start.
Structured coaching that builds in the right order
We don't hand a junior a club and tell them to hit it. Every lesson is planned around where they are now and where they want to get to, with Trackman data helping us track improvement objectively so they can see themselves getting better.
Grip, stance, posture, and alignment: the four building blocks that determine almost everything else. Getting these right early makes everything after far easier.
Using Trackman radar, we show juniors exactly what's happening at impact: club path, face angle, strike location. Data removes guesswork and keeps juniors engaged.
Chipping, pitching, and putting: the shots that actually lower scores. We introduce short game skills early so juniors can play proper holes quickly and enjoy the game sooner.
Rules, pace of play, etiquette, and how to manage a round mentally. These are often neglected in junior coaching, so we make sure young golfers are confident on the course, not just the range.
All junior coaching takes place at Sunderland Golf Centre
For juniors who are ready to step onto the range and hit real balls on a proper floodlit range. 42 covered bays on site at Sunderland Golf Centre, so coaching leads straight to practice, reinforcing every lesson immediately.
Patient, encouraging coaches who know how to bring out the best in young golfers
Jack Hayward and Dan North are both PGA qualified with years of experience coaching golfers of all ages. They know how to keep juniors engaged, progressing, and, most importantly, enjoying themselves. No pressure, no shouting, just clear coaching that works.
We welcome juniors from age 6 upwards. The most important thing isn't age, it's whether they're ready to listen and engage. A motivated 7-year-old will progress faster than a disinterested 12-year-old. If you're unsure, book an introductory session and we'll give you an honest assessment.
Not for the first lessons. We have clubs available to use, and we'd recommend holding off buying a set until we've assessed your child's swing and identified the right specifications. Buying junior clubs too early, or the wrong size, can reinforce bad habits.
Yes, and we actively encourage it for younger juniors. We also offer parent & junior sessions where parent and child learn together, which is a great way to share the game and gives parents context for what to practise at home.
Junior lessons start from £40 for an introductory session. We also offer the Game Development Programme from £55/month for juniors who want regular, structured coaching. See full pricing.
